Happy Friday!
Our Top Pick this week is the launch of Roku's first branded-content program, Roku Recommends - a show that both highlights Roku's own streaming content, and serves as a place to promote sponsorship partners. Nicely done Roku.
This week we learned that international beauty company L'Oréal will be partnering with TikTok to test its e-commerce tools. According to L'Oréal's 2020 annual report, the company reported $7.4bn sales via e-commerce last year, making up approximately 26% of its total revenue. No doubt L'Oréal is keen to access TikTok's reported 689 million users to further grow its e-commerce business in 2021.
Also this week, we learned that the WarnerMedia and Discovery merger will unfortunately not be named DiscoWarner. The companies have instead settled on Warner Bros. Discovery - and the ambitious tagline 'the stuff that dreams are made of'.
Until next week!
Matt LeBlanc Becomes “Irish Uncle” Meme
And finally,
We couldn't let the week go by without acknowledging Ireland's meme-based outpouring of love for Friends actor Matt Le Blanc, after his appearance in Friends: The Reunion. The Irish uncle meme, which started on Twitter, made it the whole way to the pages of Hollywood Reporter. If for some reason, this hasn't made it onto your radar, then please enjoy.
