Happy Friday! … What a week! … We have lots of exciting news.
First this week, huge congratulations to our customer, WaterBear Network, on the launch of their gorgeous new streaming service. We are so proud to see our interactive video technology being used to inspire a community of global change-makers and to connect them to 80+ planet-saving NGOs. If you’re planning to make a charitable donation this festive season, please consider donating to WaterBear’s NGO partners, which can be done right in the app.
Axonista is honored to be included as a finalist in Digital TV Europe’s Video Tech Innovation Awards, along with with our wonderful partners Lorraine Keane and Oxfam Ireland for the Fashion Relief TV shoppable video show. The shortlists include some really inspiring companies and initiatives, and we wish everyone all the best on the night. You can sign up to attend (virtually) here.
In the wider media industry, shoppable video continues to gain traction. NBCUniversal has partnered with PayPal to make items suggested by TV programs easier and faster to purchase, and Walmart is partnering with Tastemade to deliver shoppable cooking shows during the holidays. NTWRK has certainly seen the benefit of shoppable videos as it made over $100,000 in 24 hours from selling over four hundred products on Snapchat!
This week, some surprise news that sent shockwaves through the movie industry was an announcement from Warner Bros. that it will launch all of its 2021 movies simultaneously on its HBO Max streaming service and in movie theaters. It will be interesting to see the long term impacts of this move on the cinema industry, which has already been significantly hurt by Covid-19.
Until next week!
Sony rolls out AR filters and billboards to celebrate PS5 launch
And finally...
To celebrate the launch of the PlayStation 5 (PS5), Sony has launched AR filters in Hong Kong to show the idea that "Play has no limits."
We found the comical soundtrack of the ad a little jarring with the high tech nature of the PS5 AR experience, but the overall effect brightened up our Friday! Check it out!
