Happy Friday!

This week is all about Fashion Week! Every year fashionistas are treated to a week of runway shows and remarkable clothes and designs. But what has got us excited at Rerun is the technology that has been used to take this year's Fashion Week to a whole new level!

At the New York Fashion Week (NYFW), the metaverse was at the forefront of designer Jonathan Simkhai's show. He showcased his Fall/Winter 2022 collection by transforming ten looks from his physical collection into virtual clothing modelled by digital avatars in the virtual world of Second Life.

What really made the show intriguing was how it integrated the real world with the metaverse by having models, celebrities, and journalists attend the show as their digital avatars. If you're going to have digital models, why not also have digital attendees?

Kicking things up a notch, NYFW also saw a collaboration between Yahoo, Keds and designer Maisie Ellen that is being hailed as the catwalk experience of the future! The show bridged the gap between fantasy and reality by featuring the first-ever holographic fashion show. Attendees were surrounded by virtual models, holographic projections, and shoppable AR.

We couldn't be there physically (our invite must have gotten lost in the mail!), but thanks to the website that Yahoo built, we were able to enjoy the immersive experience from the comfort of our homes, and we could buy the items on Maisie Wilen's online store.

The fashion industry is undoubtedly looking towards a more virtual future.

Until next week!
