How blockchain is making waves in media and entertainment
'The hype will settle, the technology will mature, and the true applications will emerge' - Anindya Ghose, Harvard law review
Media companies are investing in blockchain. It could be key to solving old industry problems.
Take revenue distribution. With so many parties involved in a project, can blockchain be a better way to reimburse everyone? Can we better collect and distribute royalties from global revenue sources? It an old issue, but blockchain has given companies like FilmChain a new tool to solve this problem.
Digital advertisers are using blockchain to provide transparency on transactions. NYIAX / NASDAQ's upfront ad contract marketplace is already in production, with more than 100 buyers and sellers.
Blockchain still has its own problems, like speed. The mechanisms used to validate transactions, though innovative, are slower than existing solutions.
